- "I Am A Messianic"
“I Am A Messianic.”
First, Some Background...
While I was researching material for the Teaching Page about Sha'ul's encounter with Messiah Y'shua on the Road to Damascus, I came across a phrase which he speaks to Governor Felix in Caesarea, during his imprisonment there. Sha'ul has been accused of being a pest and an agitator by some other “unbelieving” Jews, (that is members of both the Sadducees and the Pharisees) mostly from Yerushalayim – people who simply don’t like what Sha’ul is doing and have been on a "witch-hunt" against him for years. They also accuse him of being “a ringleader of the sect of Natzratim” as well as speaking blasphemy and of trying to profane the Temple. All these charges were, of course, false. They tell Felix, in a passage not included in all the manuscripts, that they “wanted to try him under our own law, but Lysias, the commander, intervened. He took him out of our hands by force and ordered his accuser to appear before you.”
It’s interesting to note that Sha’ul was never IN their hands, that Lysias arrested Sha’ul for his own safety because of the turmoil stirred up by these ruffians, which was comprised of far more than one “accuser”, and that Lysias sent Sha’ul to Felix in Caesarea because he learned of a planned attack against him.
At any rate, as Sha’ul is speaking before Felix he makes a claim about his faith connection as it was then – at the end of his third journey, and after years of reflection. As I read the one passage, I realized that it was a very good description of what being a Messianic is about. I then found other passages to add to it and came up with the material printed below.
I offer this to all readers of this website, sojourners and visitors alike, in order to remove any misunderstanding and misgivings people may have about being a Messianic. I think you will be able to pick out the key issues.

I Am A Messianic !
“This I do Admit to You ! I worship the God of our Fathers in accordance with “The Way” (which they call a ‘sect’). I continue to believe everything that accords with the Torah and everything written in the Prophets. And I continue to have hope in God – which they too accept – that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous….” Acts 24:14-15
“I held back nothing that could be helpful to you…declaring with utmost seriousness the same message… put your trust in our Lord, Y’shua the Messiah.” Acts 20:20-21
“…It is because of the Hope of Yisra’el that I have this chain around me.” Acts 28:20
“Whether it takes a short time or a long time, I wish to God that not only you, but everyone hearing me today, might become just like me, except for these chains.” Acts 26:29
“[Sha'ul] remained two whole years in a place he rented for himself, and he continued receiving all who came to see him, openly and without hindrance proclaiming the Kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Y’shua the Messiah.” Acts 28:30-31
